Did you know? There is beauty in darkness.
Low light is my new toy and I am utterly enchanted with it.
Events of this past year, the most horrendous of my life, have forced me to reconsider my direction as a photographer. I sought answers about my future, and when I was ready, I got them. The half light I was already living in revealed something other than pain and loss. Hope and opportunity resided there too.
I’ll still be taking perfectly lit photos too of course, just like some of the images below from the Photo a Day project I abandoned in January.
But I also look forward to exploring the cloudy, nebulous, lurid, inky, shadowy side of this world and it’s people. This direction heralds a new beginning of sorts, both in my life and by extension, my work.
I’m so happy to be guided along this new path, hands outstretched, eyes wide open but seeing nothing, grasping for obstacles that may trip me over, but not fearing them.
